SN: 5463 'No Series' Partially Ground Chrysanthemum. Japanese military bolt action rifle manufactured circa 1939. Less common "long" configuration of the Type 99. Features 31.5" barrel, cleaning rod is missing, bayonet lug, blade front sight with protector ears, circular peep rear sight with elevation ladder (marked to 1500 meters), provision for anti-aircraft wings (wings absent), hinged floorplate, manual safety, sling swivels, straight bolt handle with "plum" knob. Rear band has provision for monopod, no monopod, no marks indicating a pod was ever installed. Missing forward screw from front band. Bore is very good condition, appears to be hard chrome plated. Retains 80% blued finish, turning brown with patina in several areas, appears original with some re-touched areas such as where Mum was ground. Several areas of rough finish as manufactured, such as tangs. Some bare metal on sharp edges and where parts rub during operation. Screw heads show marring. Wood is very good condition, with numerous dings and dents, several small gouges, some finish loss near buttplate. Butt join is very tight and mostly only visible due to grain direction in the pieces. Bolt parts marked "483". Includes good to very good condition bayonet, hooked quillon, marked as "National Denki under Kokura supervision", with good condition steel scabbard. Condition is NRA Good++ (bluing touched up at Mum, missing screw) *** C&R Firearm ***
