Made in England Myott, Son & Co. Ltd. was a family-run business that produced earthenware in Stoke-on-Trent, England, from 1898 to 1976 . The company was founded by James Myott and his sons Ashley and Sydney, who took over the pottery of George Thomas Mountford in 1898 . They moved to a new factory in Cobridge in 1902, which they named the Alexander Pottery . They expanded their works in 1925 and became a limited company in 1942 . They collaborated with Marcel Goldscheider, an Austrian figure modeller, from 1940 to 1950 . Ashley Myott was knighted in 1953 for his contributions to the pottery industry . In 1961, the company was acquired by James Sadler & Sons Ltd1. In 1976, it merged with Alfred Meakin Ltd. to form Myott-Meakin Ltd1.
Myott, Son & Co. Ltd. was known for its art deco style and its wide range of patterns at various prices . Some of their popular products included the Shakespeare Land series, the Royal Mail series, the Indian Tree pattern, and the Staffordshire Bouquet pattern . They also produced hand-painted wares, lustre wares, and commemorative wares . Their products are highly collectible and can be found on online platforms such as Etsy and eBay .
