This is an antique antler handled knife from circa 1839. The knife was owned by Moses Bryan who was the nephew of Stephen F. Austin. Bryan was an early Texas settler born in 1817 and died in 1895. He fought in the Battle of San Jacinto and later served in the Confederate Army as a Major. The knife features a hardened steel blade with an antler handle. The grip is marked "Moses Bryan". The end of the handle has been carved to be used as a wax seal and reads "Texas 1839". This is a truly RARE piece of early Texas history. The knife is in good condition. It measures 16.5" with an 11" blade.
