Moore 7-shot revolver, .32 cal., 5” octagon barrel, nickel finish to barrel assembly and cylinder with silver wash to engraved brass frame, wood grips, #5991 in overall very good + condition with considerable finish remaining, crisp action, good markings and engraving, good bore and grips with old mars and scratches from carry and storage. This revolver has the rarer and desirable barrel marking “Mf’d for Smith & Wesson By Moore’s Patent Firearms Co.” after its loss of an infringement suit brought by Smith & Wesson. Quite a number of these popular guns were known to have been purchased privately by Union soldiers and carried during the Civil War. Est.: $700-$1,400.
