Montana Dryhead Agate Cut & Uncut Stones (4)
Featured in this lot is this collection of four cut and uncut Dryhead agates from Montana. First discovered around 1950, Dryhead Agates were named after Dryhead Creek along the Montana/ Wyoming border. Although, Dryhead Agates weren't well known at first, today's collectors can easily recognize Dryhead Agates by their orange and brown fortifications, and a variety of vivid colors. Three of the four agates are cut into slices with the fourth and largest being uncut. The agate pieces show colors of orange, red, gray, pink and white with two of the agate pieces showing crystal structures of quartz and chalcedony, commonly found in agate pieces. The agate stones show good condition. The smallest cut piece measures 2 7/8" L x 2 1/2" W, while the largest cut piece measures 4 1/8" L x 3" W. The stone measures 3 1/2" L x 3" W.
