Modern handmade custom flintlock Kentucky pistol, barrel signed “J. Lynch”, .40 cal., 12” octagon barrel, brown finish, engraved silver and brass mountings, beautiful striped raised carved maple full stock, double keyed with silver thumb plateinlaid on back of wrist and inscribed “Bob Bjorn”; in overall fine condition showing the majority of its original finish, crisp action, finely accomplished engraved mountings, bone-tipped wood cleaning rod. Type written note from consignorindicates pistol was acquired at a June 2, 2009 Bonhams-Butterfield Auction where consignor learned Mr. Lynch lived in Benicia in the 1970’sand was a maker of high quality reproduction flintlock pistols and rifles. He reportedly madeonly about five of these (this one is #5; marked on front of muzzle) and they were offered as prizes for a time at the North California Historic Arms Collectors (no longer active). Bob Bjorn was reportedly an officer of the club and winner ofthe drawing for #5 so his name is on this pistol. Bjorn was a gun collector from Fairfield, CA who passed away approx. 20 years ago; his wife subsequently placed this and his other guns in the above-mentioned auction in 2009. A finely crafted
