This is a nice example of a very scarce post WWI Navy issue Luger pistol that was reissued in the 1925/26 timeframe. These Weimar Navy Lugers were standard 1908-1918 military issue lugers that were reworked after WWI for reissue to the Weimar Navy. This was the second year for the 1908 military configuration luger pistols. These can be distinguished by the lack of the hold-open device and stock lug on the rear grip strap. This example has been modified to add the hold open device, probably at the time it was reissued and which was later performed on all 1908 model lugers, after WWI. The top of the chamber is dated 1910 and the front toggle is marked DWM, the rear grip strap has the large Naval "M/Anchor/N432'' naval property markings indicating it was reissued to the North sea fleet. It has standard factory markings with Imperial acceptance markings on the barrel extension. The barrel, barrel extension and breechblock are numbered 7779b, while the frame and toggle assembly are numbered 9275, indicating it was probably assembled that way when the grip straps were marked and it was reissued. It has the standard rust blued finish with straw colors on the small parts with checkered walnut grips. It is complete with one WWI, nickel-plated magazine with the wooden base that has a number which is unreadable.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw color
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 9275s
Condition: Fine with 70% of the original rust blued finish overall with even honest wear on the side plate, grip straps and the front edges of the frame rails. The various small parts retain 75% of their straw colors overall. The grips are in near very good condition overall, good checkering on both side with even honest wear across the tops of the checkering with minor handling marks with a small piece of wood missing under the safety lever. As noted this luger has mismatched parts, however, the actual blue finish and overall wear are consistent with this parts having been together for a long time. A very fine example of a very scarce Navy issue luger pistol.
