Model 1879 U.S. Trapdoor Rifle, .45-70 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stock, iron cleaning rod, #245662 in overall very good condition showing considerable original finish, very good bore, crisp action, sharpmarkings and very good wood with some scattered old mars and scratches from carry and storage plus a “v” shaped small crack on the right side of the stock behind the lockplate and “44” stamped on both sides of the butt stock and at the top of the butt stock; circle P proof and sharp “SWP/1883” inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger assembly; a very nice example of this Model.
