Miquelet style flintlock powder tester, probably Spanish, circa mid 18th century, resembling flintlock pistol of this era. Measures approx. 11” overall. The tester shows a brass butt-cap and triggerguard,tension spring which can be tightened by key at front. Wheel shows hand-engraved graduations. Condition is good with some light to moderate pitting and erosion. Very good wood stock showing some small cracks and losses. Good patina on brass mounts. A similar example is illustrated in Eprouvettes by Kempers, page 103, from the Hagley museum collection. The only miquelet powder tester we have seen offered for sale since the PaulWolf collection was sold by Bernard Braverman over 20 years ago. From the Keith Coulter collection. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
