Minty Smith & Wesson New Model No 3 .44 Cal
SN: 29303 Documented high condition single action break top revolver chambered in .44 Russian, circa 1890's. Once owned by Jim Supica who wrote this about the revolver "best one I've had for sale, 90% original blue, exc. bore & mechanics, exc. hr grips may be replacements, exc overall, factory lanyard ring requiring sideways serial number on butt, s/n 29303". Configuration is as follows, blued finish with case hardened hammer & trigger guard, 6.5" barrel with raised rib, pinned blade front sight, fixed rear sight, fluted six shot cylinder, wide checkered hammer spur, wide smooth trigger, lanyard ring on butt and two piece black S&W checkered hard rubber grips. Includes Smith & Wesson factory two page letter detailing the revolver, a portion reads "Shipped from our factory on August 12, 1896, and delivered to Takata & Co., Yokohama, Japan. This revolver was part of a large order of this model shipped to Japan. The revolver was shipped with a 6.5 inch barrel, blue finish and equipped with a lanyard ring in the butt.". Jim Supica is the director of the NRA Museum, is regarded as a top authority on Smith & Wesson and literally wrote the book on them. We agree with Jim's condition report, previously stated, and we add that the case hardened colors are substantial and well preserver. Condition is excellent ***Antique Firearm***
