Ming Dynasty Chinese sword with goose quill shaped broad blade and enamel over ornate forged iron guard and mounts. The sword measures approximately 47 ½” overall with 31” blade. The blade measures approximately 1 and 5/8” across the widest partand is of thick stock and well forged with inlaid decoration at ricasso. The condition is very good plus to near fine. The grip shows old re-wrap in silk based material. The pommel cap may be an old period replacement or signifies a particular unitor Royal guard and decoration differs from the guard but is old and also from the period of use in China. The best early Chinese sword we have ever offered for sale at auction from an old time collection and it is definitely of museum quality. Est.: $6000-$12,000
