Offered for your bidding pleasure are these two Hand Blown Mid 20th Century Japanese Fishing Floats. These floats were used to give buoyancy to fishing nets, long lines, and drop lines. These types of fishing buoys originate from as early as the 1840's - invented by a Norwegian merchant Christopher Faye, and modernized shortly after by Hadeslands Glassverk. The buoys are referred to as "Japanese Glass Floats" because most all of the remaining glass floats that exist today originate from Japan, and their ever-booming deep sea fishing industry. These hand blown floats originate from the mid-20th Century and show the original hallmark insignia. There are some tears to the rope netting but overall they show good condition. The largest of the two measures 39" in circumference and the smallest measures 35" in circumference.
