A 35 3/4 inch double fuller flat back blade marked "US/ S.K" on the obverse ricasso and "N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1847" on the reverse. The hilt has a two branch guard, Phrygian helmet pommel and a wire wrapped leather grip.The saber has a regulation iron scabbard etched "A.E.I." on the drag.

Condition: Very good, with a mixed gray patina on the blade and scattered light handling marks. There is a deep patina on the hilt. The twisted wire on the grip is broken and loose. There is moderate wear on the leather grip wrap. The scabbard has brown patina, with several shallow dents and a small amount of pitting.
