Merwin Hulbert & Co. Third Model Pocket Army Double Action Revolver
This revolver has the 3rd Model round barrel with top strap and full fluted cylinder and has the "Pocket Army' bird's head butt with pointed extension and lanyard hole. The hammer, trigger guard, trigger and barrel latch had a casehardened finish. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two line Hopkins and Allen address / patent dates, "CALIBRE / WINCHESTER 1873" is located on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. N.Y. / POCKET ARMY" is stamped on the right side of the frame below the cylinder. The serial number is stamped on the rear of the barrel lug. The revolver is fitted with checkered hard rubber grips.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 70% of the original nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking. There are a few minor tool marks on the barrel as well as some minor rust on the barrel, top strap and cylinder. The hammer shows traces of faded original case colors with strong original case colors on the protected areas of the trigger guard. The balance has a smooth mottled patina. The grips are also very fine with some mild high edge wear, a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The trigger has to occasionally be manually placed back into the ready position, otherwise the action is fine.
