Merwin & Hulbert .38 caliber single-action revolver, factory floral intaglio engraved in deluxe motif, 3-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, exceptional original raised-carved pearl grips showing hunting dog on left side.Serial #4285. The revolver remains in very good plus to near fine original condition with 90% plus original nickel that is completely unpolished and uncleaned in modern times. The left side of the frame shows areclining stag. The right side shows a helmeted ancient warrior portrait with a bird. The cylinders show lion’s heads, bobcats, and jaguars between each flute. The pearl grips are the best we have ever seen on this model showing a beautiful raised carving and are almost 1-1/4” thick. The grips fit impeccably and show beautiful rainbow hues. The barrel and cylinder are numbered 4668 and match, and it is notuncommon that barrels and cylinders carry different numbers than frames on this model. The engraving is absolutely matching, and the parts grew up together. The hammer and trigger show considerable case hardening.
