Merrill .54 caliber breech-loading percussion carbine, first model, serial #2386. Refer Flayderman #9B-075. The carbine remains in original good condition showing a light grey patina finish, some scattered light tomoderate surface erosion and pinprick pitting. The markings on the lock and release lever are good and clear. The stock is fair to good with some dings, mars, scratches, a couple gouges, and normal wear consistentwith Civil War carry and use. Some weathering and opening around the tang. The original small parts and sights are retained. Bore still bright and at least very good. The brass patchbox and butt show a few nicks andscratches.
