Merkel Field Grade side by side shotgun, cal. 12 gauge, Serial #NSNV. The shotgun is in overall fine condition with 28” blued barrels. The barrels retain nearly all of their blued finish with a full length filed rib, extractors and brass bead front sight. The finely checkered wood stocks are in fine condition also showing only slight marks consistent with storage, a blank silver escutcheon shield and hard rubber butt complete the stock. The action has gone to alight patina with traces of muted case coloring in protected areas. The scalloped action is finely engraved with games scenes on each side, one depicting ducks, the other with pheasants. The base of the action is further engraved, as are all screw heads and the Suhl trademark is incorporated into the motif. The bores are good and may well clean to very good. The guns action is tight and the markings remain crisp. (C+R/PPT). Est.: $1,400-$2,800.
