The right side of the receiver is marked: " MANUFACTURED BY/MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS/1882." The opposite side is marked: "EDWARD MAYNARD/PATENTEE/MAY 27, 1851/DEC. 6, 1859". The rifle has a heavy, part octagon barrel with forearm, dovetailed folding globe blade front sight, and fixed rear sight. There is a tang mounted mid range peep sight. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm, pistol grip stock, with a nickel plated brass Swiss style buttplate.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 60% thinning original blue finish with areas fade to a smooth plum patina. The receiver has a smooth silver-gray patina and the hammer and lever have a smooth dark patina. The buttplate retains 90% of the original frosted nickel plating with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The stock has been broken at the wrist and professionally repaired. The wood is also very fine with a minor chip in the grip area, a few minor dings, and crisp checkering. The hammer functions but does not hold a cock position due to broken trigger return spring. Clear markings.
