Maynard 2nd model .50 caliber percussion breech loading carbine in very good plus to near fine original condition serial number 17428. The barrel retains 75% to 85% original blue which is toning and dulling slightly with some slight to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting just starting in a few small areas near the breech and on the sides of barrel. The frame shows 40% to 60% case hardening that is muting and drifting to a patina with some light colors still visible. The markings are sharp on the left side of breech. The stock is very good plus to near fine with couple minor dents, bruises with two razor-sharp cartouches. The butt plate shows a dark patina with some light to moderate pitting. The small parts are all retained including sights. The bore is bright and near new. A strong 8 on 1 to 10 scale. Est.: $1,100-$2,200.
