Maynard 1st Model single shot breechloading percussion carbine, .50 cal., 20” barrel, grey patina, wood stock with iron patchbox, #335. This gun is in overall good + condition showing an even grey patina with scattered spots of erosion, good action and markings including “J.T.” inspection marking (John Taylor) on left barrel flat at breech; Maynard priming device, overall good wood stock with scattered mars and scratches from carry and storage and an old 5-pointed star carved into the right side of the stock in front of the patchbox; dark bore; saddle ring present; made circa 1858-1859; known U.S. purchases, per Flayderman, were all in .50 caliber, 400 to U.S. Army and 60 later purchased by U.S. Navy. A verydesirable martial carbine that’s difficult to find in any condition. (Antique). Est.: $3,500-$5,500.
