This is an interesting example of a early 1936 "S/42" P.08 Luger that has a presentation inscription on the left side of the frame. The top of the chamber is dated 1936 and the front toggle is marked "S/42", the wartime code for the Mauser factory. The left side of the frame has a two line custom presentation inscription. The inscription reads: "Gunther Rnucheim/ 26 May 1936" and the right side frame rail is marked "Mauser Werke A.G. Oberndorf a/N". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with a eagle/63 and eagle firing proofs and the left side has only a single "Crown U" proof, which is also stamped on the underside of the barrel. The luger has the correct safety and extractor markings and is complete with two unmarked nickel plated magazines with an aluminum base. The bases of both magazines have the serial number ground off and are now marked with a single Crown U commercial proof, the small letter "m" that corresponds to the serial number over a single eagle 63 Waffenamt proof. This Luger is complete with an excellent 1936 dated smooth black leather holster that is marked on back "Kern Klagerscie/1936 Berlin" over a single eagle WaA Waffenamt proof. The holster has a reproduction WWII German takedown tool inside that has a small eagle 63 Waffenamt proof.
