Mauser Model 98 bolt-action rifle, 8mm cal., 24” barrel, blue finish, wood stock, leather sling, #6718. This gun is in “out-of-the-attic” untouched condition showing a brown plum patina on metal surfaces, matching visible serial numbers, bore should clean to good, crisp action, sharp markings including German eagle proofs and top of receiver marked “S/27” and “1937”; wood stock is overall good with scattered nicks, mars and scratches with heavier mars on stock at bolt; some scattered spots of surface rust, overall good leather sling. This untouched piece would greatly improve with a little TLC. Consignor indicates weapon was a GI bring back from a relative from WW II; included is a photo of the GI standing by a US military vehicle; also per the family, the gun was sent back to the U.S. in a P-47 wooden rocket crate.
