These Luger pistols were manufactured in Germany during the 1930s by Mauser, after recently taking over production of Luger pistols from DWM, for Stoeger Arms Corporation to be sold in the U.S. Several different barrel lengths were offered in either 9mm or 7.65mm, and the quantity acquired by Stoeger was rather low, making this Luger a scarce variation. This example is marked with the "American Eagle" stamp on the chamber and "DWM" on the toggle. "Crown/N" proofs are on the left side of the barrel extension and breech bolt. The numbered parts on the gun are matching, including the barrel which has a restamped Mauser "Crown/U" proof and "Made in Germany" marked along the bottom. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "A.F. STOEGER INC/NEW YORK." along with "Germany" above the ejector. The right side rail is marked "GENUINE LUGER - REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE." The extractor is marked "LOADED" and the safety lever marking is "SAFE". The magazine has a blued body and wood base with an Imperial proof marking.
