Mauser Broomhandle step barrel commercial semi-automatic pistol in .30 Mauser caliber, serial number 877155, scroll engraved and inscribed “The Duke 1975” at left center of frame and “To John Wayne” on right-center offrame. The pistol is refinished in blue at time of engraving and is fitted with a pair of select wood grips inlaid in silver showing skull on left grip and Kings crown on right grip, surrounded by decorative wire inlaid in silver. The condition is excellent as refinished and a custom display case is included constructed of burled wood veneer and fitted in the French style. This Mauser was given to Stephen G. Hanesh by WilburSnedar. Wilbur Snedar was John Wayne’s executive auditor at Bat Jac Productions and a letter of provenance dated 2/15/92 is included from Mr. Hanesh who states the pistol was originally a gift to John Wayneand subsequently given to Hanesh.
