This is an example of a late 1937 production German Luger pistol as manufactured by the Mauser factory in 1937. This series of luger has the all rust blued finish on the metal surfaces and is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grip. The top of the chamber area is dated "1937" and the front toggle has the wartime code of "S/42" for the Mauser factory at Oberndorf. The right side of the barrel extension has the early droop wing eagle/63 Waffenamt proof next to the single eagle firing proof. Visible numbers match. It has the standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" extractor and safety markings. It is complete with one all blued, unmarked magazine with the aluminum base that is stamped "MADE IN DENMARK".
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 7444n
Condition: Very fine with 90% of the slightly thin original blue finish overall with blue wear on the edges and high spots, with some light thinning in the center section of the barrel and chamber area. The front and rear grip straps show some thinning blue, mixed with some brown patina. The grips are in fine condition overall with a nice matching medium brown color on both sides with some minor wear across the tops of the checkering and down towards the grip screw on the left side. It has all matching numbers except for the magazine as noted above and the grips which are unnumbered but both carry a small Eagle 135 Waffenamt proof. Mechanically excellent.
