Massive high quality ornate Germanic flintlock fowler with extensively carved full length stock, .70 cal., 43-1/4” heavy octagon barrel with touch marks at breech, “86” and “5” and “G B” on top flat behind the rear two-stage brass sight; touchmark also in front of rear sight on top flat of barrel which displays a brown patina; good action, engraved hammer and engraved hunting dogs on lockplate; high relief hunting scenes on brass trigger guard, butt plate and reverse lockplate;brass ferrules with brass tipped iron ramrod; superb raised carved stock in very good to fine condition showing three hunters with guns and their dogs on the right side of the butt stock and their elk prey fleeing in the forest ahead ofthem on the right side of the forestock; on the left side of the butt stock is a raised carved scene of a hunter in repose with animals around him and a hunting dog attacking a large boar racing thru the forest on the left forestock;single set trigger.
