This lot provides you the opportunity to bid on an original etching by California artist, Mary Lehman. Mary was born near Spokane, Washington in 1920 and was raised in San Fernando, California from age six. She studied art at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1938 and joined the Women's Army Corps at Los Alamos during World War II. Mary became known for her etchings of horses, which she started doing in 1968. This etching, hand titled, "Trouble on the Overland Trail", was signed by her with the year 1979; It is numbered 31/50. Like many of her etchings, she enhanced this one with water color; next to the etching number is written, "Color Ed, 5 proofs". On the back of the frame is printed, "This original Etching was conceived, hand pulled and colored by Mary Lehman. The etching is framed in a wood frame with a gold-colored fabric 'mat'. This original framed artwork is in very good condition. It measures 25" x 6.5".
