Marlin model 1889 .38-40 caliber military style rifled musket. 30” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, factory mounted with sling swivels and side-mounted ramrod. One of the rarest of all Marlins, only 67 estimate to be produced and only 3 in .38-40 caliber. Apparently this model was shipped to China and this is the only example to surface in .38-40 caliber making it unique to the collector’s market. The barrel shows 75-85% original blue, some spotting and losses at the top edge. The frame and buttplate have drifted to a dark grey/brown patina and shows some pitting and erosion. The forend is good to very good, the buttstock is darkened and shows some dings, mars, scratches, more weathering that the forend from the way it was stored. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the action is good, the bore very good. Serial #98858. Est: $14,000 - $18,000

Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
