Marlin Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle
Manufactured from 1895 to 1917 with total production estimated at only 18,000. These rifles were the answer to the Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle and although they never attained the same status as the Winchester rifles, some consider them to be better and stronger than the Winchester rifles. This rifle has German silver blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights on a barrel marked "MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED.OCT. 11. 1887, APRIL 2. 1889, AUGUST 1. 1893" in front of the rear sight and "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" and the left side. The top of the receiver is script marked "MARLIN SAFETY", with the upper tang marked "MODEL / 1895". Standard full length magazine tube and smooth forearm and straight grip stock fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Good. The barrel and magazine have a smooth plum patina with strong traces of the original blue finish in protected areas. The receiver, hammer and buttplate have a smooth mottled gray patina and the lever has a smooth mottled brown patina. The wood is very good. The stock is reoiled with a couple of small minor gouges and a few minor dings and dents. The forearm has a pleasant hand rubbed patina showing a few small gouges and some minor dents and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is very good.
