Marlin Ballard off-hand rifle, .32-40 caliber, medium weight half round half octagon 30” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, select checkered walnut stock, with Swiss butt and raised cheek piece. Veneer type windage and elevation adjustable type tang rear sight. Hooded target type front sight and mounted with Lyman super target spot scope on adjustable mounts. The barrel shows 70-80% thinning original blue finish. The action shows 75-85% original case hardening. The stocks are very good with sharp checkering, most original lacquer, a few dings, mars, and slight use. The right side of the buttstock is inlaid with a silver plaque which is fancily scalloped and nicely engraved “Presented by the Pabst Brewing Company to the Wallace Gun Club and won by Horace King” with portrait of shooter standing with target rifle. Score listed at 55555. The action is tight, the bore is excellent. See page 278 of the Ballard book by John Dutcher. Serial #28116. Est: $5,000 - $8,000
