This is an increasingly rare original Margot Van Voorhies Carr Taxco, Mexico sterling silver earrings from the circa 1950’s. The Margot De Taxco Sterling silver piece shows the iconic sterling silver and enameled articulated snake design in the ever so desirable stylings and hand crafted high-quality known by this renowned silversmith. Margot Van Voorhies Carr is considered by most to be the absolute premier silversmith to emerge from the incredibly high-quality Taxco region. These are the exact match to the necklace sold in the previous lot. The piece originates from the 1940's or 1950’s and shows very good condition overall. Other less detailed and lighter constructed pieces from Margot de Taxco have sold at auction such as the Silver & Enamel Snake by Heritage Auctions for $4,250 in 2014, the necklace / earring / and bracelet set sold by Heritage Auction for $3,000 in 2014, the fish necklace sold by Philip Weiss Auctions for $2,500 in 2009 and the serpent piece sold by Rago Arts and Auction Center for $3,250 in 2013. This piece exhibits a much more detailed and heavier construction than any other example currently or previously brought to sale. Unclasped the necklace measures 18.75". Snakeform.
