Magnificent pair of original ivory stocked “peanut size” silver mounted Philadelphia deringers in French style American made deluxe presentation case. Lid inscribed in script “O. W. Turk”. The pistols areextremely high quality with less than 1” barrels, double banded at the breeches, fully stocked in ivory that is checkered at the wrists with silver lockplates, “P” proof mark and 7-groove rifling. Original ivory stocked deringers are extremely rare and this is the only genuine peanut-size set known to this cataloger. One deringer is in fine to excellent condition showing most of its original mercuric type lightened stripes onthe brown barrel, light quenched original near mint case hardening on lock, hammer, and breech. The dulled silver bands are uncleaned, excellent ivory stocks show slight yellowing, minor age checks, slight cracks,but generally excellent to near mint overall. The mate is in fine to excellent condition showing traces of the striping on the barrel going to patina with darkening silver bands, excellent lock showing silvery grey original
