Magnificent and extremely high grade Civil War presentation statue hilted officer’ swords in near fine condition obtained by our consignor from the personal collection of iconic arms dealer and edged weapon expert Norm Flayderman. The castsilver colored metal grip shows a semi-nude and bare chested lady holding a laurel wreath and a Union shield on the reverse all joined by intertwining scrolls. The guard of the sword shows an American Eagle surrounded by red gemstoneswith fancy scrollwork and piercing. The top of the grip is surmounted by a Cavaliers style hat perched on the top of a Canon barrel. The mounts of the sword are high relief with stands of arms, Eagles and the drag shows a Civil War soldierframed by crossed flags. The mounts are hand engraved as accents. The reverse of the scabbard is inscribed “Presented to Lieut. Col. Geo. Sangter, 47th N.Y.L.M. by the officers at the camp of Paroled prisoners, Annapolis, MD., Nov.25, 1862, Comte. { Capt. F.J. Keffer, 71st Pa. Vols., 1st Lt. J. F.J. Kiersted, 66 N.Y.
