Introduced in 1948 as a counterpart to the Model 11-48, the Sportsman was designed with a 3-round capacity. White front and nickel mid bead sights on the vent rib, with the legend "D GRADE 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS" on the left side, patent markings on the reverse, and scroll engraving on each side of the breech. The receiver and trigger guard are also decorated with scroll and vine type engraving, with wavy border lines, floral designs on the trigger retention pins, and a starburst pattern on the rear of the operating handle. Fancy walnut pistol grip stock, with fine checkering on the beavertail forearm and pistol grip, a Remington grip cap with Fleur-de-Lis designs, and a solid Pachmayr recoil pad. Equipped with a Remington Special Skeet choke, with a 14 1/4" length of pull.

Condition: In virtually new condition, showing only the lightest handling marks, with finely executed engraving and spectacular wood. As a writer it is hard to get across when a firearm has such new condition and saying virtually new does not seem enough. Again you won't see another 48D Tournament Grade in this condition in your lifetime. Mechanically excellent. From the Collection of James Tipton, noted collector of high grade Remington firearms.
