Originally introduced in 1905 and rebranded in 1911, the Model 11 is John Browning's automatic shotgun, which he personally considered one of his best designs. Nickel bead sight on the vent rib, with the legend "D GRADE 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS" and the patent and address markings on the left side, improved modified choke and a 2 1/2 inch wedge of scroll engraving on each side of the breech. The receiver and trigger guard are also decorated with scroll and punch dot engraving, with wavy and zig-zag border lines, burst patterns on the screws, operating handle and pins, and hand engraved serial numbers on the receiver and trigger guard. The bolt is properly marked "THE/ SPORTSMAN". Fancy walnut pistol grip stock, with fine checkering on the forearm and pistol grip, a Remington grip cap with Fleur-de-Lis designs, 14" length of pull and a ribbed Remington buttplate.
