"JOHN KILIAN NEW YORK" is inlaid in gold on the top barrel flat with "CAST" inlaid in gold on the upper left flat and "STEEL" inlaid in gold on the upper right flat. A pair of gold inlaid bands are featured at the breech. The rifle has a globe front sight, an adjustable notch rear sight, and a key adjustable tang peep sight (key is included). The barrel has a false muzzle. The fish sculpted hammer with gold inlaid eyes is floral scroll engraved on the side. The floral engraving extends to the lock plate which also has an inlaid hunting dog scene surrounded by a gold inlaid border. Floral scroll engraved upper tang and breech plug with the upper tang also having a gold inlaid boar scene surrounded by a gold inlaid border. The ornate trigger guard, forend cap, and Schuetzen buttplate are German silver and are also floral scroll engraved with the buttplate incorporating checkered dot and zigzag line motifs and the forend cap incorporates a checkered pattern on the front. The rifle is equipped with double set triggers. Mounted with a nicely figured walnut half stock featuring multi-point checkering on the wrist, German silver barrel wedge escutcheons, and a raised cheekpiece. The left side of the stock features an elaborate deep relief hunting dog scene. Complete with a brass tipped wooden ramrod and bullet starter.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains traces of original blue finish in and around the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina. The very fine lock plate and tang has a smooth silver gray patina, with excellent raised relief gold animals. Overall the German silver is fine. The refinished stock is fine with a few wood filled repairs, a repaired long crack on the forearm (left side), and some minor handling marks. Overall the recut checkering is crisp.
