This is a fantastic example of a documented factory engraved Colt Police Positive revolver with factory carved steer head pearl grips. The included Colt factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, carved steer head pearl stocks, factory checkering on the back strap and factory grade 1 engraving with "C.A. Forest" inscribed on the butt. The revolver was shipped to the commanding officer of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C of Reading, Pennsylvania, on December 19, 1928 as part of a one gun shipment on order number 15707/1. The barrel has the two line Colt Hartford address/patent dates marking on top and the model/caliber marking on the left side. A Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side plate. The factory grade 1floral scroll and punch dot engraving is featured on the barrel sides, the frame sides and trigger guard with a floral scroll pattern on the cylinder chambers, butt, front sides of the frame at the breech and top strap. The barrel marking side and the Rampant Colt are surrounded by the factory engraving. Checkered trigger, blade front sight and hammer with polished sides. As stated, the butt is script inscribed "C.A. FOREST" and the back strap has factory checkering. The pearl grips have silver Rampant Colt medallions with a carved steer head on the right panel. A simple search yielded no results connecting the name C.A. Forest to the Pennsylvania State Police. Further research could provide some interesting results. The Colt factory box is numbered to the gun and has the correct end label along with correct "SPECIAL" and "ENGRAVED" factory labels. The inside of the factory paper hinge box has the correct Colt labels. The following items are with the revolver: bore brush, Colt instructions pamphlet and Bair's patent wooden cleaning rod.
