Magnificent Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver in Spectacular Condition
Produced in 1862, this is a superb example of a Fourth Model Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver, with proper features such as the large rounded brass trigger guard, capping groove in recoil shield cut-out and thin loading lever latch. Pin front and hammer notch rear sights, with the one line "- ADDRESS COL. SAMl COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" address on the top flat of the barrel, "COLTS/ PATENT" on the left side of the frame and the roll engraved Texas Navy scene on the cylinder. Full matching serial numbers are present on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with a "2" nearby indicating the revolver was formerly of a cased set, with matching partial numbers on the wedge, cylinder and loading lever. Smooth one piece walnut grips.

Condition: Excellent, with 97% of the bright original high polished blue and casehardened finish. Some scattered nicks and dings are visible overall, with wear along the high points and a few areas of scattered brown patina. Markings are strong, including the cylinder scene, and the nipples and safety pins show minimal battering. A mixture of smooth brown and gray patina and bright and vivid original case colors are visible on the frame, and the screws and trigger show a large amount of bright niter blue. Excellent grips, with a small chip absent from the right toe, minor pressure dents and strong varnish. Mechanically excellent. A top notch example of the Fourth Model Colt 1851 Navy Revolver, which would be difficult to improve upon.
