Magnavox is Latin for Great Voice. An appropriate name for a company that was one of the leading manufacturers of speakers in the decade of the 20s. Several nice examples of Magnavox speakers are part of this collection. In spite of being ahead of the game in some of their technology Magnavox radios never caught on. Magnavox is a serious contender in the argument as to who produced the first true 1-dial receiver. While most manufacturers would have 1-dial sets by 1927 or 1928; the Magnavox was for sale in late 1924. Unfortunately this was not done with modern style, single shaft, ganged condensers until late 1925; two months after Mohawk had done it, supporting their claim to being the first true modern one-dial receiver. This is a good example of this hard to find set and is in fair original condition.
