MAUSER MODEL 1930 COMMERCIAL SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.
Cal. 30 Mauser. S# 800289. Bbl. 5.5", stepped with barley corn sight, plus 50-1000 marked tangent sight at rear of receiver. Made up from leftover parts by Germany for export and commercial sales. Serial number range and basic features of early 1930 model, but with characteristics of late 1930 models and others. Totally refinished and rebuilt with renumbered early frame that is without Mauser patent info on right side. Early style receiver with lightening grooves in rails, appropriate serial number range, proofs and markings, plus correct rear sight. Barrel should be 5.2", yet is 5.5" late 1930 variation, also with "7.63 Mauser" on left side, forward of barrel step. At the time of this pistol, it was also offered in 9mm Luger and 8.15mm (experimental), so barrel marking aided caliber identification for commercial sales. Correctly fitted with universal, one-handed safety. Correct grips would have 12 grooves; fitted with 32 groove grips (as used on 1920 reworks) that are not numbered, plus secured with common hardware store machine screw. Floorplate numbered "128 0"; unnumbered follower and lock housing. Mauser banner on left side of frame, plus Mauser markings over chamber. Slotted for stock, no lanyard provision, plus recesses of panels are matte-finished rather than machined. CONDITION: especially fine appearing example of commercially prepared product. Grips are near excellent but noticeably proud of frame that has extreme corrosion under grips, leaving very thin supporting metal. Floorplate is somewhat loose but secure and easy to function. Small ring hammer (without NS marking) and lockwork housing are unfinished with matte appearance. Blued finish of frame is very good with traces of prior pitting in bottoms of panels. Well-restored bolt with very good spring functioning, plus near excellent bore. (23-2620/NW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
