MAUSER C96 BROOMHANDLE, PRE-WAR COMMERCIAL,
9MM EXPORT, STOCK. Cal. 9x25mm Mauser Export. S# 176223. Bbl 5 1/2". Very very few Pre-War Commercial pistols were chambered for the 9mm Export. This example is an otherwise standard configuration pistol with a 5.5" barrel, fixed front sight, and slip-in rear sight graduated 50-1000. Short extractor, two lug firing pin, small ring hammer, standard safety. Three line address on chamber with full serial number on left chamber flat. Crown/C/U on left side of barrel extension. Two line address on right side of frame. All external numbers are matched to the full serial number that is repeated on the back of the subframe and frame. Disassembly shows a fully matching pistol to include the floorplate, locking block, sear, and each of the grip panels. As true for most 9mm Export pistols and a number in 9mmP, the follower has a feeding groove. Lanyard ring present. Accompanied by a military accepted shoulder stock originally fitted for a Red-9, repair around lid release button, having hinge with no loop, and lug numbered "227". CONDITION: overall VG with approximately 85% original blue, early toning of the barrel with expected use related wear and some spotting on the right side of the barrel extension. Excellent original fire blue on the extractor, cursor, and bolt stop, the trigger having faded to a yellowish gray in the areas of usual contact. Comparable condition grips with oil discoloration, scattered dings, and a few patches of losses. Bright bore with sharp rifling. V-VG stock that has been refinished, repaired around the button as previously noted, with most of the fire blue from the hinge and lug having faded to a gray. A rare opportunity to own a Pre-War Commercial pistol in an extremely scarce caliber, with a later era Red-9 stock you can use for a different pistol! (22-3143/LA). CURIO. $2,000-4,000.
