M1913 Patton Cavalry Saber
M1913 Patton Cavalry Saber. The cavalry saber has been part of cavalry tradition for centuries and cavalry was still seen as an important part of the military in WWI. George S. Patton was a great swordsman and in 1913, he was a part of the Army Chief of Staff. During his time there, he would take the lessons he learned from others and design a new sword for the cavalry with a focus on thrusting over slashing, the M1913. The M1913 would be used by US cavalry and would be the last sword ever adopted by the cavalry. This sword was produced by Landers Frary & Clark (LF&C) in 1918 and has the marking on one side of the tang, the other side has the US marking. The blade has some minor rust spots but has a nice sharp point. The hilt has a metal basket with black paint and the paint has no scratches or chips. The grip has some slight wear at the pommel. Good condition.
