Lot of two U.S. military collectibles including a tintype of a Civil War era Union soldier in uniform with scrap of paper in case behind the image marked “Eli R. Mauck” (case is separated and in need of conservation; also a U.S. Navy medal with inscribed bars “U.S.S. New York” and “Receiving Ship New York”; inscribed on back “C.S.C. No. 18614, Arthur P. Spencer, U.S.S. Idaho May 6, 1909”. Accompanying the medal is Spencer’s Commission appointment as a Lieutenant in the Navy dated Feb. 1, 1926. Also present is a typewritten history for Spencer (1878-1954) indicating he was a member of Troop “F” 1st U.S. Volunteers (Roosevelt’s Rough Riders) later joining the Navy and serving for almost three decades. A cabinet photo of Spencer in Naval uniform is also included with two of his shipmates. Est.: $175-$275.
