Lot of three collector photos by Harmon Percy Marble who was a U.S. Indian Agent beginning in 1911 and resigning from his position on May 19, 1926. He worked at a number of reservations in South Dakota, Arizona and New Mexico and photographed Indian life similar to early famous photographers like Curtis and Huffman; Marble later ran a cigar store in Long Beach, California and reportedly served as mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada in the late1920’s/early 1930s. The 8”x10” photo is of the Snake Dance Ceremony of the Hopi Indians in the village of Old Oraibi; one 5”x7” photo is of the Hopi Butterfly Dance, possibly in the village of Moencopi and the other5”x7”photo is of an Indian winter grave; a great little lot of non-staged glimpses of early American Indian activities. Est.: $150-$300.
