A) This is an example of a late-WWII production P-38 pistol as manufactured by the Spreewerke factory. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", " cyq" and the serial number, the left side of the frame is stamped with the serial number and a single Nazi "Eagle/88" Waffenamt proof. The matching serial number is also marked on the front of the barrel lug. The right side of the slide is marked with the Nazi firing proof flanked by "eagle/88" proofs. Fixed sights, blue magazine with "eagle/88" proof on the spine and fitted with rust colored serrated bakelite grips with a lanyard loop on the left heel. Complete with a black leather double flap holster marked "P.38/jwa" on the back.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 90% original blue finish with some wear on the muzzle and front edge of the slide, and a smooth mottled gray patina on the front grip strap. Overall there are a few minor dings. The grips are very fine showing heat "pimpling", very little wear. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine.

B) This is an example of a late-WWII production P-38 pistol as manufactured by the Spreewerke factory. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", "cyq" and the serial number, the left side of the frame is stamped with the serial number, an asterisk and a single Nazi "Eagle/88" Waffenamt proof. The matching serial number is also marked on the front of the barrel lug. The right side of the slide is marked with the Nazi firing proof flanked by "eagle/88" proofs. Fixed sights and fitted with rust colored serrated bakelite grips with a lanyard loop on the left heel. Complete with a black leather flap holster marked "CWW", "eagle/WaA392", "1942" and "P38" on the back.

Condition: Very fine overall with 75% original blue finish remaining, showing minor oxidation and pitting on the barrel and some minor pitting on the spring cover. The front strap and a portion of the trigger guard have a smooth gray patina and overall there are scattered minor dings and high edge wear. The grips are fine with a few minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with some minor wear and scratches, with tight stitching.
