The included Colt factory letter confirms the serial number, barrel length, and caliber, with the finish listed as blue and type of stocks listed as "wood". The letter states that the carbine with shipped to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company, London Agency, London, England, on June 2, 1884 as part of a 10 gun shipment. The carbine has the two line Colt Hartford address/patent marking on the barrel, the Rampant Colt on the receiver, and "BURGESS'S PATENTS" on the casehardened lever. Saddle ring stud with ring mount on the left side of the receiver. Checkered deluxe forearm and straight grip stock with casehardened buttplate and leather sling.

Condition: Period, possibly retailer refinished, with 95% of the bright blue finish remaining (over some pitting on side of receiver) with some minor spotting and handling marks. Vivid case colors present on buttplate, lever and hammer. The stock is very fine with the exception a few mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
