This is a nice example of a late WWII production M1 Garand as manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1945 that was subsequently refurbished for the Korean war. The rear of the receiver has the standard markings of "U.S. RIFLE/CAL. 30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY" over the serial number and the barrel is marked "1-S-A-1-45" with the breech end parkerized. It is fitted with a modified operating rod marked "D35382-9 SA", the bolt is marked "D28287-19 SA" the trigger housing is marked "D28290-18 SA" with a "C46008-& SA" marked hammer. It has the late style rear sight set with the windage knob marked "D.R.C.". It is fitted with the wide base gas cylinder wit the round top gas cylinder lock and four slot gas plug. Currently it has a walnut stock and handguard set, with the left side of the stock marked with a boxed "S.A./GAW" cartouche and a crossed cannon stamp with an encircled "P" proof in the pistol grip area, with the rack number, "326" stamped on top of the comb and the toe of the stock. It is complete with a green web sling with a M-1 bayonet and green plastic scabbard. The bayonet is marked "U.C./U.S." and the scabbard is marked with the flaming ordnance bomb with "U.S." in the center.

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 95% of the GI parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with light finish loss on the receiver rail, top of the bolt, and the sides of the gas cylinder. The stock and handguards are in very good condition overall, with a nice medium brown oil finish with handling marks and light pressure dents on top handguard and sides of the buttstock. The cartouches and firing proof is clear and distinct. The stock has an old glass bedding repair on each side of the cutout area that contacts the front portion of the trigger guard. The bayonet and scabbard are both in excellent condition with the bayonet having 98% of a dark gray parkerized finish with the green plastic scabbard. Mechanically fine condition.
