This lot provides you an ancient Ohio Hopewell Native American Indian Trumpet Pipe, believed to originate from circa Late Woodland Period of 500 - 1000 CE. The pipe, hand carved of Steatite, displays incised diagonal and horizontal lines, as well as a band of inset circles around the rim of the bowl. When not creating effigy pipes, the Hopewell Native American Indians of the Northeast would commonly use these geometric design motifs. Provenance; From a private Swiss Collection. The pipe measures 6 1/4" long from the tip of the mouth piece to the end of the bowl, 1 5/8" wide at the mouth of the bowl, and 3 1/2" tall.
