Late-War or Post-War Czech Production P-38 ac-44 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #2508, 9mm, 5" barrel, blued finish, double action, Nazi eagle firing proof on slide, eagle88 waffenampts on frame and slide, asterisk stamp next to proofs on slide, serial number on slide is stamped under the "P.38" mark, "E" and "46" stamped on trigger guard corners, Czech lion proof mark on top of barrel at chamber area, two proofs (possibly "(eagle)359") on frame and trigger guard have been obliterated, internal barrel side marked with "(eagle)WaA70" waffenampt, hammer drop safety, drift adjustable blade front sight and fixed rear sight with small "u" slot, all visible numbers matching, lanyard loop, bottom mag release, dark brown Bakelite grooved grips, one post-war Walther Banner commercial blued steel magazine marked P38 and 9mm. Interesting gun, probably assembled from leftover parts in Czechoslovakia, late in WWII or just after the war, using Walther made parts, but marked with cyq "(eagle)88" proofs. The "46" on the trigger guard may indicate 1946 build date. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80% original blued finish, with wear at muzzle sides, high edges of slide, top of barrel, tops of the sights, trigger guard edges, tips of the safety and hold open levers. Front grip strap is thinning to gray, with edgewear on the mag release and lanyard loop. Action, hold open, and hammer drop safety all work properly; bore is lightly frosted overall with strong lands and grooves. Grips show light wear, minor scratches, and a couple of tiny depressions. Magazine is very nice showing only very light marks from use. Est.: $800-$1,200. (C&R/PPT)
