Manufactured in 1945. Standard two line two block address and patent dates on the left side of the slide with the Rampant Colt in the center, the left side of the frame is marked "J.S.B." behind the trigger and "P" just below the magazine release. One of the more rare inspection marks, the stamp of John S. Begley, the civilian Chief of the Springfield Ordnance District from 15 July - 2 December 1945 is only found among Colt's last World War II production block, in the range of 2270000-2368781. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" with the cross cannon cartouche behind the grip. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the letter "X" over the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark. Checkered trigger, slide stop, thumb safety and narrow hammer spur, serrated ached main spring housing, lanyard ring on the heel, blue magazine marked "C-S" on the bottom of the toe and fitted with brown checkered plastic grips.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% of the slightly thin original parkerized finish with some thinning on the front strap and grip safety. The grips are also excellent with a with minor dings and handling marks, and sharp checkering. The inspection marks are a bit partially faint due to a weak stamp, the remaining markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
